The extension
Bible Gateway Customizer, formerly Bible Gateway Dark Mode, adjusts reading colors and lets you save passage searches as bookmarks. The extension has no analytics and does not automatically upload your palettes, bookmarks, or browsing history to the developer.
What is stored locally
The extension saves your light/dark palettes, customization on/off state, Pro unlock state, and bookmarks in your browser profile using Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). Bookmarks contain the passage search, translation, and destination address you chose to save. They are not an automatic record of pages you visit.
The on-page styling also keeps an enabled-state flag in the supported website's local storage so styling can be applied as the page starts. Local storage is still storage, even though these preferences are not uploaded.
Page access and permissions
The extension reads supported pages to apply colors, detect the selected reading mode, and obtain the passage search when you choose to save a bookmark. Its content scripts run on BibleGateway.com (including Classic), gospels.net, and gnosis.org. It requests storage permission; it does not request browser-history or browser-bookmark permissions.
Your choices and data retention
You can remove individual bookmarks in the popup. Settings and bookmarks remain in this browser profile and do not automatically synchronize with other devices or your Bible Gateway account. Reusing a Pro license on another computer does not transfer that data.
Uninstalling the extension removes its extension-local data. It does not necessarily remove website storage or caches, including the on-page enabled-state flag; those can be cleared through your browser's site-data controls.
Opening a bookmark requests the saved passage from Bible Gateway in the current tab. Purchase, feedback, and donation links open external services, which handle those visits under their own privacy practices.
This website and purchases
The extension's privacy behavior is separate from this Zynski Games website. The overview, purchase, and privacy pages load Google Analytics to measure website visits and use Google-hosted fonts. Those requests can provide Google with information such as your IP address, browser details, and the page being requested; analytics can use browser identifiers and cookies. See Google's privacy policy.
The purchase page loads Stripe's checkout button. Stripe handles the contact and payment information needed to complete your purchase under Stripe's privacy policy. Payment card details are not supplied to the extension. Purchase information, including your checkout email, is used to provide your license and assist with purchase support.
License retrieval
After checkout, the thank-you page sends the Checkout Session reference to the existing license service hosted on Cloudflare to verify the purchase and retrieve your license. It keeps that reference in this tab's session storage so you can reload the page. When that storage is available, the page removes the reference from the address bar. The page does not save the license key in website storage.
The thank-you page does not include Google Analytics. It asks browsers not to send referrer information and search engines not to index it. The license reference is used for purchase recovery, not as an analytics identifier.
Feedback, donations, and support
If you choose to send feedback or contact support, the information you submit is used to respond to your request. The feedback form uses Google Forms, and donations use Buy Me a Coffee. These services and the providers involved in payments, hosting, and email delivery process the information needed for their services under their own practices.
For purchase help, provide your checkout email and purchase date. Do not send payment card details. For questions about your information or a request concerning support or purchase records, email pamuszynski@gmail.com.
